Unlike many other religions, Wicca does not claim to be the one and only way for everybody, and it does not campaign against other religious traditions (although the other way around is unfortunately the cast at times).
Wicca is not anti-Christian; however, it does not acknowledge the existence of sin, the Devil, or a judgemental and avenging god as defined by Christianity.
Wicca encourages free thought, artistic creativity, individuality, and personal, spiritual, and psychic growth. It is a celebration of the cycle of seasons and of life. Wicca is respecting and living in harmony with all living things.
Wicca is Light. Wicca is Love. Wicca is called the "Craft of the Wise" and is both ancient and new. It is a path
unlike any other in the world."
Ok, so what does all that mean? That's a tough question to answer. Each person has their own personal definition of the word Wicca or Witchcraft. Since I am in no place to speak for the many Wiccans of the planet, I will share with you my personal definition. Be it known, however, that I in no way claim that this is the correct path to follow, or that any other path is not the 'right' one. This information is here mearly to let you know of my Wicca, my religion.
To me, Wicca is many things, but most of all, and most importantly, it is a personal religion. There is no all-knowing
guru watching over your shoulder, ready to tell you that you have displeased the Goddess, and are therefore
condemmed to eternity in the water heater. There are no commandments to follow, save for:
By now, you may be wondering what the difference is between the words Wicca and Witchcraft. Although they are often used interchangeably, there is a slight difference. The way I define them is thus... Witchcraft is the craft of being a Witch...casting spells, and altering the physical world. Wicca is the religion of being a Witch...honoring and worshiping the forces which you utilize in order to practice Witchcraft. These forces come to us from the higher being, which no-one can understand. This being manifests itself in a form that we, as humans, can understand. This form is as a Goddess and a God.
And there you have it. A very short yet, hopefully, informative interperatation of Wicca. As I have said before, if you have any more questions, or would like to offer some advice as to how to improve this page, E-mail me and let me know.
