[The Horned God] The Wiccan Gods [The Goddess]

This is not something that I can fully explain to you here, as it is something which you should discover for yourself. However, I WILL try to give you something to work with. Keep in mind that this is my own personal opinion, and you may very well find out that something else works better for you.

Ok, let's see if I can find a place to begin. I'm sure you are familiar with the concept of the Christian God. Let's begin with this. "God" is the all-knowing, all-powerfull, benevolent (even thought he says "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live"..but we won't get into that here) creator of the universe. As Wiccans, we also have a God, but we do not pretend to understand it. I prefer to refer to It as 'the All'. The All is all that God is, and more. The All is neither male nor female, neither good nor bad, but is all of these combined.

This is all well and good, but what good is a diety (god) that we, as followers, cannot relate to in some way. To take care of this problem, the All appears to us as the God and the Goddess.

The God and The Goddess can appear in a variety of forms with a variety of names. These different forms and names are known as 'aspects'. Different aspects of the God and Goddess have different correspondences. For a quick example, the Goddess Venus is associated with Love, while the Goddess Hecate is associated with age-acquired wisdom. I could go on forever just talking about the Goddess alone, but I will leave that up to you to discover. Generally, the Goddess is associated with the Moon, love, water, air, and the God is associated with the Sun, raw emotions, the wild animals, and the wild in general. A common aspect of the God is the Greek Pan.

I hope that this has given you some place to begin your search for the God and Goddess in your life. Sometime in the near future, I will be posting a suggested reading list which will, hopefully, give you some ideas of what to read for good information.
